In the past decades, significant improvements in mortality were observed. Prospective mortality tables allow to incorporate a trend in the projections in order to take this into account.
The prospective mortality tool of Reacfin allow to calibrate such tables. Based on the mortality observations of a given population (e.g. inhabitants of a country), the tool fits a model (Lee Carter) on the historical data and performs projection in order to get the expected future mortality. Moreover, the tool performs other treatments, such as an optimal smoothing of the historical data or a smoothing of the model coefficients, a robustness analysis by comparing the fitted model coefficients on different time windows or a backtesting analysis. Different outputs are available and easy to download.
